Police officer arrested on fraud charges

MARKSVILLE, La. A Marksville police sergeant has been arrested after being accused of helping another person avoid bankruptcy laws and scam an insurance company.

Herbert Guillot Junior was booked on charges of conspiracy, money laundering, concealment of assets and two counts of mail fraud. After a hearing in federal court yesterday, he was released on an unsecured 25-thousand dollar bail bond.

Arraignment is set for June 8th.
