Police Officer Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run

- An officer with the Sacramento Police Department is facing felony hit-and-run charges after he allegedly struck and killed an Elk Grove teenager while under the influence of alcohol.
Investigators said Jason March, 29, struck and killed 13-year old Michael Ramirez on Tuesday afternoon as the teen was crossing Bilby Road near Stathos Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Ramirez had just gotten off a school bus and was crossing the street to recover a scooter he had hidden in the bushes. "A Ford Expedition came by struck the 13-year-old boy," recounted CHP Officer Jasper Begay. "The vehicle slowed and all of a sudden took off."
