King City officer accused of sex abuse

KING CITY -- Washington County sheriff's deputies arrested a King City police officer Friday, accusing him of sexually abusing a boy he met on the Internet.
Brandon T. Tomkins, a six-year department veteran, was arrested at King City City Hall about 1 p.m. after a two-month investigation by sheriff's detectives.
Tomkins, 29, a Southwest Portland resident, was booked into the Washington County Jail, then released on his own recognizance. Arraignment on two counts of second-degree sexual abuse is scheduled for Monday. Second-degree sexual abuse is a Class C felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison and a $125,000 fine.
