Newport Police Officer Indicted On Assault Charge

NEWPORT, R.I. -- A Newport police officer has been indicted for an alleged off-duty assault that happened last October.

Maurice Sellers, 28, was indicted Tuesday by a state grand jury. He's scheduled to be arraigned in Newport County Superior Court on Feb. 24 on a misdemeanor assault charge.
