Top cop at O'Hare tied to scandal
Chicago Police Cmdr. Michael Acosta consoled police widows at their worst moments.
He also helped his drinking buddy, who stole $4 million in tollway money, and a mob bookie, federal prosecutors allege in a criminal complaint.
The startling contrast came to light Wednesday as prosecutors charged Acosta -- most recently the top cop at O'Hare Airport -- with lying in October to FBI agents investigating the Hired Truck scandal. He is the 17th person charged in the investigation.
