Civil lawsuit takes aim at Fox Lake police chief

Fox Lake Police Chief Ed Gerretsen has been added to a civil lawsuit against three officers charged earlier this month with beating a handcuffed man outside of a Fox Lake tavern.

The lawsuit, filed on behalf of Ryan Hallett, 26, alleges Gerretsen and Spring Grove Police Chief Donald Regnier covered up for officers, manipulated witnesses, destroyed evidence and did not move to press charges against the three officers indicted in the beating of Hallett outside of KC’s Cabin in March.
