Dallas Officer Arrested On Extortion Charges
DALLAS -- Dallas police arrested one of their own Thursday morning. Officer James Quaite, a three-year veteran of the department, was accused of extortion.
The charges allege that Quaite would release suspects in exchange for cash. The alleged criminal activity would occur after Quaite made a traffic stop. During the stop, Quaite would run a warrant check on the stopped driver. If the driver had an outstanding warrant for his or her arrest, Quaite would offer to release the person if he were paid in cash, according to police.
